When you think about being the best you can be, what do you think about? I find that people have many areas of their life to balance and keeping them all in check can be quite a process. For example, you finances may be great, but in contrast maybe your health is suffering from working 80 hours per week to keep money rolling in. Perhaps your exercise routine is in full swing, but you feel guilty inside for not taking as much time for your children. Maybe you keep telling yourself you are going to take that class or that trip or learn to sew, but never do it. So, how do you keep it all going and working? Everything in life is a give and take, but the process you go through to keep it all in motion is what matters most.

We’ve assembled a team of people to help. You can ask them the tough questions! We will add more experts as we grow and we hope you will refer people and advertisers to our site. Check out the franchise section if you would like to become part of our team. Each month we will feature an outstanding person, so please be sure to send us your stories and photos. Be bold, we may not ever know you are out there unless you tell us!!!

From me, each month, you will get personal insight and stories from people I meet.

The Real You.

Like I said above, everyone has their good things and everyone has their bad. This month I wanted to focus on getting to know the real YOU, because that is what this whole concept is about.

Several months ago, I had a call from a high school pal who admitted she weighed 185 pounds and wanted to lose 30 of it in the next six weeks for high school reunion. I thought, well, "This is a question for Bonnie and then I thought, no, I'm answering first because I want to knock my friend upside the head for trying to lose too much weight in a short amount of time!" She admitted that she is frustrated by the weight most of the time on a day in and day out basis.

I encouraged her to not only contact Bonnie, but also take a look at her life. She said, "I love to eat and I eat when I get stressed." I said, "You should try to change that, because at that weight, you are begging for all sorts of health problems and you have 3 small children that need their mom minus any health issues.” We, of course, went on and on to talk about our lives and issues.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not one to have the ultimate health or body and I know I am also a stress eater, so this hit home to me also. The point is for us all to be much more careful of the foods we eat and exercise as best we can for ourselves. My friend, thankfully has lost 17 pounds now.

Real Passion.

I was in a meeting the other day with a 43 year-old woman. We were discussing an office function and then got off to talking about dance lessons when we were kids for some reason. I told her that I take a local tap dancing class here and there. She asked how it came about that I was taking this class. I told her I had been a tap dancer and gymnast for over 20 years and that in the midst of having 4 children, a career, husband and so forth that I had lost one of my passions. She is joining me in class in the fall. She sent several emails to me inquiring about the classes and confided that this was once a passion of hers that she had regretted not keeping up with.

Frequently our passions get lost in the day to day shuffle. I hope you stop for a moment each day for the next week and go back to your youth or in time and think about something you loved. Maybe it is reading a book, sewing, baking cookies, tap dancing, writing, painting...who knows...but those are the passions to pay attention to and bring them into your adult life again if you haven't been doing so.

As for my friend above, to become a BEST EVER YOU, I hope she finds the peace both inside and out because when one is out of balance, it shows in all areas and makes what is positive suffer also. In her case, she missed her reunion.

TRY to take some time and find the balance. It is there if you just stop and a listen to yourself.
