Featuring You - Robyn Rosenkrantz and Michael Glover: 36 Husbands

Tell us about yourself.

We are:

Bright Blue Gorilla Movies & Music, Los Angeles

Robyn Rosenkrantz and Michael Glover

Our latest film is 36 Husbands.

36 Husbands is a mystical, musical, Kung Fu spy comedy starring 3 powerful women - and a bunch of husbands. Krista, top spy and Kung Fu master, has extraordinary powers and she puts them in action on her quest to slow down the steady march towards World War III. Together with her Kung Fu disciples, Gina and Nola, (and Frankie, a spy on-loan from MI6) they fight and love their way across the world leaving a trail of broken hearts and sabotaged plans. All the spies and evil-doers are tuning into the Bright Blue Gorilla TV show. Why do they watch? Is it the music, is it the comedy? Maybe you can figure it out.

How did you get to be where you are today?

Robyn:

Ever since I was a kid, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. My dream was to make music and travel the world. Wrote my first song at around age 7. In grade school I also thought I wanted to be an astronaut and wrote to NASA, asking why there weren’t more female astronauts! I always envisioned living outside the box. There were many events and people along the way that encouraged me to go for my dreams. If I had to pick one main event that got me going, it was the death of my sister Dede and best friend Lisa. In 1984 they were killed by a drunk driver. This ended up being a blessing in disguise, as it woke me up and got me started on my spiritual search and gave me the courage to live my dreams now. Growing up in Los Angeles, the music industry was all around me. I was in lots of bands, attended inspiring concerts and played the clubs, learning lots of skills by doing. But the L.A. music scene was mainly about waiting around to get discovered by a record company to give me permission to do what I loved and to make a living. So, like most musicians, I had jobs and did my music part time, which was really frustrating. In 1989 my life completely changed when I met Michael Glover at the 8121 club on Sunset Blvd. We both had a gig that night. We met up and wrote a love song and then fell in love! In May 1990, we decided to quit our L.A. jobs, sell everything we had (except our guitars) and bought one-way tickets to Europe. 30 years later, we’re still on this adventure together! Our goal has always been to create uplifting music and (now movies since 2005). We’ve been blessed to make friends everywhere we go, to live as artists and create with a world-wide community.

Have you ever been fired?

Michael:

No. I’ve quit plenty of times though… Back when I had normal jobs – when I was a teenager mostly. Fortunately, I’ve spent most of my life as a working performer. I started playing drums in a punk band when I was 13 and by the time I was 18 we had a record deal and were touring the USA. Since I met Robyn (1990) we’ve been touring the world as Bright Blue Gorilla and also making feature films.

What are your real passions?

Robyn:

Meditation, creating, serving, loving, being a divine friend to all!

Michael:

Ditto what Robyn said!

If you won the lottery, what would you do?

Michael:

The same thing I’m doing now: Making movies and music, meditating a lot and helping others where I can. Money doesn’t do as much for you as people seem to think. Deep success and happiness is really more about inner-attitude and determination than outer conditions.

What do you do to help others be their best?

Robyn:

Listen! Everyone needs a good listener. Most people just like to talk about themselves and don’t ask others questions. Everyone has a story to tell. I find it fascinating to meet new people and hear about their lives, their dreams. I do my best to inspire them to go for it.

Michael:

I talk so Robyn can listen. (Just kidding.) What she says is good… I’ll sign up for that.

How do you help yourself be the best you can be?

Michael: Meditation and introspection. Learning my lessons and correcting myself. Study from Wisdom teachings (of which there are many – like Yoga Philosophy and Taoism). Don’t be lazy and never give up. (But take periods of rest.)

What do you like to do in your personal life?

Robyn:

My goal is to live a balanced life spiritually and materially. To do what I love everyday! I feel so blessed to have such freedom in my daily life: meditation, serving others, creating. I enjoy every aspect of life, embracing all lessons that come my way. I may not have a lot materially but I have all I need to live a happy life. Because of so much love and support and friendship around the world, I feel rich, even though I don’t own much and my bank account may not show it!

What do you hope to accomplish in the future?

Robyn:

Liberation! To know my Soul 100%, to express my Soul and share that love with all.

What is a book or two that you recommend?

Michael:

For lovers of classic cinema, I’d recommend Frank Capra’s “The Name Above The Title.” That’s fabulous.

Robyn: Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. It’s a life changing book and truly uplifting. Answers all of life’s questions.

Please give us one or two shameless plugs.

What are some of your favorites? (books, websites, etc..)

Michael: Movies from the 1930’s and 1940’s. Check out the work of directors Howard Hawks, Frank Capra, Ernst Lubitsch, George Cukor, Preston Sturges.

Why do you do what you do?

Robyn:

I feel that we all come into this life for a specific reason. There are no accidents. We create all opportunities in our lives from our past and present Karma. I think it’s our Soul duty to discover what our special gifts are and to share them with the world. Everyone is completely unique and has something to offer.

What are a few of your goals?

Michael:

At this point I have mainly spiritual goals. Aside from that we’ll keep doing positive movie & music projects that help uplift.

Robyn:

My goal is to uplift and inspire others everywhere I go, through my movies, music and friendship.

What do the words "Best Ever You" mean to you?

Robyn:

Best Ever You is a truly inspiring phrase. You can be your own best friend, you are ever existing, ever new eternal JOY! Now is the time to shine!

Michael:

If you can get past body sensations, emotions and intellect, there’s something deeper in there – that’s where you start to glimpse the real “you”.
