Relationship Struggles of Millennial Couples

Contrary to popular belief, the way millennials date and start new relationships isn’t really all sunshine and rainbows. They have relationship problems just like every other couple in the world, but we must agree that their issues are everything but ordinary. Here are five relationship struggles a lot of millennial couples are dealing with, so check them out and learn something new today!

They sometimes have different personal goals

Needless to say, millennials have a wide range of different options when it comes to their future, which is exactly why they sometimes have different personal goals as well. The things have drastically changed over the last few decades, and young people are no longer pressured to settle down and get married as soon as possible. This allows them to change their perspectives on their careers and encourages them to travel more or spend their time however they like, which often doesn’t coincide with their partner’s goals. Besides that, the truth is that a large number of millennials make plans without their partner in mind, which is another big issue that can put a strain on their relationship.

Millennials are often jealous over particular social media actions

Everyone knows that social media undoubtedly play a huge role in millennials’ lives, and the truth is that Instagram, Facebook, and other popular networks are to blame for many millennials’ relationship struggles. Even the smallest social media actions, such as following a person unknown to the partner or liking their photo, can cause huge jealousy issues. Even though some people say that small amounts of jealousy are actually healthy, we can’t agree with that claim. On the contrary, jealousy doesn’t have a productive or uplifting purpose – instead, it turns a healthy relationship into a toxic one. Remember that your partner probably isn’t hiding anything from you on social media – unless you have a real reason or proof that they’re cheating, of course.

Trying to conceive can be a real struggle, too

The subject of conception can be a very painful one for many millennial couples, and this is because a large number of them have a hard time getting pregnant. Did you know that about one in six Canadian couples faces infertility these days? This number has doubled since the 1980s, which shows that infertility has become one of the biggest health issues in today’s society. This is exactly why a large number of millennial couples who struggle with this problem are searching for support groups, both online and offline, where they can share their stories with people who have already been through the same situations. Apart from that, there is also a trying to conceive forum where women can share their experiences and speak about them openly. This can be extremely helpful when you feel down, so give it a try and you won’t make a mistake.

They get tend to get anxious about their future

Worrying about their future is another big thing that puts a lot of pressure on millennials’ relationships, and the reasons for that are more than good. First of all, millennials lack the security previous generations had, mostly in areas such as finances, housing, and employment. That lack of security results in the uncertainty most of them face at some point in life, which usually doesn’t allow them to nurture a healthy relationship due to their inability to trust and relax. This means that millennials are prone to anxiety that affects their relationship, mostly in a negative way, but you must also know that there are ways to cope with anxiety and keep your relationship healthy. Just find the one that works best for you and you’ll do a fantastic job.

There are numerous financial problems as well

Last but certainly not least, financial problems are also a huge deal among millennials. This is particularly true for young men and women who have lived with roommate(s) until recently, who don’t have much experience when it comes to budgeting for themselves. It gets even worse when you figure out that the housing costs are getting higher and higher, which can put you under pressure – especially if you feel that you and your partner aren’t making enough money. However, you must know that even though financial problems can be tough, you can overcome them with a good savings plan and support from your partner and loved ones. Nothing is impossible when you work hard to get it!

As you can see, there are a lot of things millennial couples are struggling with these days, but these five are the most common ones you should bear in mind. Even though these aren’t every millennial’s reality, the truth is that today’s political and financial environment significantly impact the way we interact with each other. Of course, once you become aware of the relationship problems millennials struggle with, you’ll be one step closer to solving them and maintaining a healthy relationship with your partner. That’s a promise!
