Five Things Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Have Taught Us

Updated: Dec 13, 2023

I'm a #Swiftie. I've loved her music and her for years, but really became overly fascinated with her after going to her ERAs Tour - Gillette night one concert. So much so, that I wrote an entire chapter in The Success Guidebook about the experience. My friend and I took our Swifties to the concert.

I must also confess that I'm a football fan. I probably follow the players I think are their best more than any specific team. This practice has led me to become a Chiefs fan and I've been following Patrick and Brittany Mahomes and Travis Kelce for quite a while now. I watch a lot of NFL and College football. Having been a cheerleader for the sport for years when I was younger, I'm very familiar with the sport.

So when Travis Kelce announced on his podcast New Heights that he had tried to get Taylor's attention with his phone number on a bracelet and speak to her at the concert, I became overly fascinated with how it all is playing out.

With everything Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, I'm one of those folks who is glued Google News, TikTok, the NFL on Twitter, Saturday Night Live, and more, getting a glimpse into their budding romance. I was a fan before, but now I think I'm a little obsessed......and the SNL skit was, in fact, spot on.

It all got me thinking about why we are all fascinated and what we can learn from them. I think they've both taught us a few things about how to be our best. Both already have world class success and are showing us how to have that in our own lives too. Here are five success tips I think Taylor and Travis have taught us.

Take the Risk

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." is a saying from hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretsky. Travis Kelce took the shot. He put it out there in the Universe and the Universe showed up. Trust the Universe. When he went on his podcast and basically declared his love for Taylor, he took many risks. Often risks have great rewards and sometimes failure. You just never know...

Pause to Pay Attention

Kudos to Taylor Swift for paying attention. She's incredibly busy, in the middle of a massive tour and didn't have to give any of this the time of day. However, she did and that pause to create space, time, and energy for Travis Kelce and his family, friends, teammates and more, speaks volumes. Her open-mind and heart have created an opportunity for love.

Assist Each Other

I loved hearing that Erin Andrews helped this romance happen. On her podcast, she threw it out there into the Universe to say “Taylor, I don’t know what you’re doing in your life right now besides rocking the world [on The Eras Tour],” Andrews said jokingly. “Please, try our friend Travis. He is fantastic.” She added, “I know we’re not the best of friends, we’re not even friends, but I consider you one,” she continued. “Take us up on this. Go on a date with this guy. Do it for America.”

Change Is Good

True change happens with you align your heart, truths, and energy. Anything is possible when you think with your heart, show up authentically and understand you go where you place your energy. Both Taylor and Travis seem to be doing this. Change like this, can be really scary. Its great to see them push past fear and go all in seeing where things go. Having the support around them from friends and family is huge too.

Success is Personal

I love the smiles on their faces. They are radiant in photos. Optimists are calling for a wedding date already. Back to our own lives, remember that true success is reflected in the smiles that brighten our faces and the peace that settles in our hearts. It's the gratitude we seek in all things and the intention and actions being our very best in each moment. We want to overcome obstacles that have stood in our way to harness our power to build a life of bold, brave, and infinite possibilities.

I know they are learning as they go and so are we. I wish them all the success in the world and here's hoping they become even better together!

Love,

Elizabeth
