Updated: Jan 16, 2019

The Best Ever You Network has been awarding our seal of excellence to books since 2009. Our mission is to review & recommend the best books to help us be our best!

Each month, I will choose a book of the month that embraces the spirit and mission of The Best Ever Network. The book chosen will be one that embrace myself, have read several times and feel it can help people of all ages and backgrounds be their best. Please note : I am not an affiliate with any book seller, nor do I receive any payment for this recommendation.

October 2018's book is BELONG by Radha Agrawal. I've included the link on Amazon to purchase a copy.

Radha Agrawal will be on The Best Ever You Show October 18, 2018 at 1pm eastern. To listen to the show click: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/besteveryou/2018/11/05/radha-agrawal--belong--find-your-people-create-community-live-connected or call us at 646-787-8537

A book that’s equal parts inspiring and interactive, and packed with prompts, charts, quizzes, and full-color illustrations, Belong takes readers on a two-part journey. Part one is Going IN—a gentle but intentional process of self-discovery and finding out your true energy levels and VIA (values, interests, and abilities). Part two is Going OUT—building on all that you’ve learned about yourself to find those few special people who feed your soul, and discovering, or creating, the ever-widening groups that align with your aims and desires. As the Co-founder and CEO of the popular global morning dance community Daybreaker, Radha Agrawal developed an immense offline community with her team of Community Catalysts in 25 cities and on a dozen college campuses around the world by creating a physical space for people to connect, self-express, sweat, and dance. Now, Radha offers the life-changing strategies, tips, and tricks for making friends that will light your fire and give you the exhale of “Ahh, I’m home.”

Agrawal says, "When I took on the challenge of writing a book about community building, I was also taking on the challenge of writing a book that we could both participate in — which is actually a vital part of community building: participation. So call it a workbook, call it a philosophy book, call it an “adult children’s book” or call it your first lesson in community building. Use this book through the lens of your personal life or the lens of your business or organization — it all applies. Either way, just don’t passively read it. Participate in it. You’ll get a lot more out of it.

I’ve also organized this book into two main parts: IN and OUT. To make friends and build the community that you want, you really have to go through this journey of self-exploration first and Go IN. There is not a single person in the entire world who sees the world the way you see it or feels the world the way you feel it. I’m an identical twin and while Miki and I have thousands of shared experiences, our interpretations are uniquely different. Going OUT focuses on how to make friends and cultivate authentic relationships once you’ve gotten really clear about who you are, what you want and how you’re showing up first. There are no shortcuts here. So please don’t skip to Part 2 until you’ve fully explored Part 1."
