Boxes of Love

Volunteers delivering “love boxes” for Thanksgiving dinner to needy families in Pontiac

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the time of year when we express gratitude to those we love by sharing in the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. There are many in our communities who are struggling financially, often in an ongoing cycle of poverty with no way out.

This is where the Dream Center of Pontiac, a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization committed to addressing hunger, poverty, addiction, and housing is making such a meaningful difference to the people living in East Pontiac. This includes a commercial kitchen and food pantry that serves 400-500 meals weekly.

Despite the rain on Saturday, over 1673 “boxes of love” complete with turkey and all the trimmings were passed out to local families in need at the Dream Center on Auburn Road in Pontiac.

The annual event is made possible thanks to the generosity of the M 1 Concourse, Woodside Bible, and over 140 volunteers who help package and distribute the mountains of much-needed food.

All of us at Smart Women’s Empowerment thank you for being part of our global community and wish you a joyous Thanksgiving holiday!
