Elizabeth's Best - UsTrendy

Sam Sisakhti Founder of UsTrendy which specializes in fashion for juniors and young women, has launched a philanthropic endeavor called “Believe in Yourself.” The program provided thousands of dresses to girls and young women who could not otherwise afford them, to wear at their upcoming school dances. This Fall, UsTrendy is providing dresses for fall and winter formal dresses.

In conjunction with donating dresses, Sisakhti seeks to create a mentor program that will provide mentoring services and other support and also bring in women speakers to talk to the girls. The aim is to promote a positive body image and healthy self esteem among young women at an early age, empowering these young girls to take on active social roles within their school communities and to feel good about themselves.

Donations began last winter. “It is truly amazing experience to hear many of the girls say that they now have the confidence to attend their first school dance, now that they have a dress that they feel good about wearing," says Sisakhti. This coming week, UsTrendy will be delivering more dresses to the Boys and Girls Clubs around country.

The Story: What Happens in Vegas, Doesn’t Stay in Vegas

In 2008, Sam Sisakhti founded UsTrendy to help talented fashion designers break down barriers created by the industry’s elite to make a name for themselves.

It all started with a guys’ trip to Vegas, where Sam reunites with his I-Just-Moved-To-L.A.-To-Make-It-As-A-Fashion-Designer childhood friend, Aaron. A concerned Sam notices Aaron is not his normal, peppy self, who later reveals his emotional and financial struggles trying to make it in the fashion industry as a successful designer, but still stay true to his own, distinctive style that got him noticed by fashion admirers in the first place.

Sam, an avid shopper, goes on to share his distaste with the lack of options found in so many stores today and wishes he could have a say in seeing more unique clothing like Aaron’s be made available to the public, but without saturating the market. And voila, UsTrendy was born!
