Featuring You - Meet Jennie Lee

Best Ever You is proud to feature author Jennie Lee. We're honored to also feature her new book, which is now available to pre-order! Jennie Lee helps us attain greater self-awareness and orient toward our highest potential through a process of engaged, incisive questioning. In her latest book, Spark Change, Lee shows us how to identify our most important personal questions and explore how they can redefine the trajectory of our life.

Tell us about yourself.

For the last 20 years, I have been a teacher of classical yoga, meditation and spiritual living. I am the author of 3 books on these topics: Spark Change: 108 Provocative Questions for Spiritual Evolution; True Yoga: Practicing with the Yoga Sutras for Happiness and Spiritual Fulfillment; and Breathing Love: Meditation in Action. I also coach private clients with a focus on how they can become more aligned spiritually for maximum joy, peace and purpose in life.

How did you get to be where you are today?

One step at a time. I have studied and lived through many difficult times, a lot of loss, grief and depression, but in learning to live my yoga and practicing meditation daily, I have found the strength and the will to overcome life’s challenges and choose love. Studying world religions and philosophy, as well as spiritual and traditional psychology, has given me a deep understanding of human nature and the common needs and longings we all share. I feel a tremendous compassion for people and want to share what I have learned through my personal journey toward spiritual awakening.

Have you ever been fired?

Yep. When I was in my 20’s, I was working as a waitress at a steak house. I have never been a meat eater and I couldn’t remember the difference between a rib-eye and a filet mignon!

What are your real passions?

My writing and coaching work are my passions - helping people to access their authentic soul self and live from that inner wisdom. I am also passionate about my own continued spiritual evolution and am dedicated to daily introspection, study and meditation.

If you won the lottery, what would you do?

The same things I do now. Write, coach, meditate, surf, hike.

What do you do to help others be their best?

I help people to find their own truth within. I encourage positivity by helping them to remember their divine light and purpose.

How do you help yourself be the best you can be?

Daily meditation is the key to my inner peace and wellbeing. Days just don’t run as smoothly if I miss it. And I always try to remember to make choices from a place of love, never fear.

What do you like to do in your personal life?

My happy place is the ocean and I am surrounded by it in Hawaii. I love to surf and go as often as I can. I also love rabbits and have a couple of house bunnies. Evenings are snuggle time with them, and my husband.

What do you hope to accomplish in the future?

I will continue writing and sharing with the community of spiritually evolving people that work with me and read my books. I truly believe we are at the brink of a major mass consciousness shift and so I will keep doing what I do to help usher that in.

What is a book or two that you recommend?

The two books that have impacted me the most are Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramahansa Yogananda and Illusions by Richard Bach. I have read them both multiple times and could live on a desert island with just these two.

Please give us one or two shameless plugs.

I am a darn good spiritual coach. If you are ready to do some serious personal growth and evolution, let’s talk. Also my new book, Spark Change: 108 Provocative Questions for Spiritual Evolution is a game changer. There is at least one question in there that will rock your world.

What are some of your favorites? (books, websites, etc..)

Why do you do what you do?

I teach and write on the topics I do because I truly believe in our inherent divinity, beauty and unity. I believe in the power of love to bring us back into harmony with one another. Personally, I would like to experience a world in which more people lived in love.

What are a few of your goals?

So many of my goals have already been realized and for this I am profoundly grateful. I have wanted to have a conversation with Oprah for decades! And I believe one day I will.

For how much she loves questions, I just know she will love Spark Change. I would also love to see Spark Change make the New York Times best seller list, because it would mean that a whole lot of people are embracing personal evolution and that’s great for all of us. And I would not say no to a little villa in the Tuscan countryside or a beachfront home in Hawaii.

What do the words "Best Ever You" mean to you?

We are all divine beings struggling to remember our spiritual spark. Being the ‘Best Ever You’ is remembering our soul essence and living from that place of light and creativity.
