Some goodbyes feel bigger than words. Today, our family said goodbye to Mel, The Podcast Kitty, who lived an extraordinary 21 years.
If you’ve followed The Best Ever You Show over the years, you probably knew Mel in her own way. She was there with me through more than 600 episodes — curled up beside me, perched nearby, or quietly purring in the background. She wasn’t just our family’s cat; she became part of this community too.
Mel had a way of reminding me of what really matters. While I worked, she brought calm and constancy. While life moved quickly around us, she made sure I slowed down to notice the simple things — a quiet presence, a gentle nudge, the comfort of just being together.
To share more than two decades with her is a gift I’ll never stop being grateful for. And to know that her presence reached beyond our family — touching listeners across The Best Ever You Show’s more than 5 million downloads — makes her story even more special. She was woven into the fabric of what we built, and her pawprints will always be part of this journey.
We’re all a bit heart- and gut-wrenched right now, and the house feels so different without her. But alongside the sadness is so much gratitude — for her loyalty, for her love, and for the joy she gave to us and to so many of you.
Thank you for loving her with us. Thank you for noticing her cameos, for smiling when she showed up, and for carrying her in your hearts too.
Here’s to Mel — our co-host, our companion, our family treasure. A life well lived, and a love we’ll always carry forward.
With love and gratitude,
Elizabeth
